i think this could be useful for the people who is not totally sure about spend their money in this movie, it has their good and bad points, but generally is a great movie, so please, let’s show them that “An Hispanic story” can be as good as any other one, or even better!.

Rococo

1) (I think this is from the Hotel D’everaux, but I’m not 100% sure)

2) Greuze, Ariadne

3) Marie Antoinette portrait

4) Tiepolo, German Rococo fresco

5) the swing, Fragonard

Specifically I love the architecture in Rococo, but I included paintings and frescos because it shows how fanciful they style was in this time.

The last image here reminds me of the movie Frozen. Also in the third image is Marie Antoinette. She has so many layers of skirts. It’s amazing that France didn’t go broke way before the revolution considering the amount they spent on the architecture.

I know we could never get away with this sort of spending today, but I really admire the time invested into these works more so than the monetary expense. It couldn’t have been easy to put all of the gold in the architecture and create all of those carvings.

Fluxus

1) Ben Vautier Total Art Match Box from Flux Year box 2 (Walker Art Center Collection)

2) Ben Vautier Gallery One (recreation- walker art center collection)

3) Marina Abromovic performance

4) Part of George Maciunas (Jurgis Mačiūnas) Fluxus Manifesto

5) George Maciunas (Jurgis Mačiūnas) Fluxus Art Amusement (different Manifesto)

Recently (Tuesday the 8th) I went to the Walker Art Center and saw the art expanded exhibition. The fact that its like an art history survey textbook, but in gallery form, is probably a good critique of that exhibition.

In any case, I was excited to see some of the walker’s collection out on display and I really enjoyed being able to see Ben Vautier’s work in person, because he’s one of my favorite artists. I was especially excited to see the recreation of his gallery one exhibition, because there was just so many details you can’t get out of a picture.

In any case, the fluxus movement has always intrigued me because of its focus on ideas rather than the material nature of art. Like how words can become art and justifying performance as art.

I can understand the critique about fluxus art being more about theatricality than we have considered art previously, but every generation of art changes and builds on the previous generation and I think this focus was just a unique way of considering art.
